National History Competition Award Ceremony

Year 12 student Thomas Maguire-Nguyen recently attended the National History Competition Award Ceremony at Carey Baptist Grammar School.

Thomas and his teammate Annie achieved an outstanding result, earning the Gold Award and winning at the State Level in the Year 11 & 12 category for their submission examining Indigenous artefact repatriation to Australia.

As part of their work, Thomas and Annie interviewed a range of voices, including author Dipo Faloyin, historian Richard Broome, and AIATSIS team member Izayah Davis, gaining valuable insights that strengthened their project.

A special mention to Salesian College Chadstone teacher Mr Styron Augustus, who supported the students throughout the process and entered their work into the competition.

Congratulations to Thomas and Annie on this wonderful achievement.
