Leadership Formation

Investing in leadership formation is an important part of life at Salesian College Chadstone.

Our Deputy Principals recently attended the Victorian Catholic Secondary Schools Deputy Principals Association Conference, connecting with colleagues from across the sector.

This event marked Byron Chen’s first time attending in his role as Assistant Principal – Faith, People and Culture. Reflecting on the experience, he shared that leadership is not about being completely “ready”, but about continuing to grow through experience, relationships and reflection. He also highlighted the importance of asking why in our work as faith leaders, and the value of learning from those who generously shared their own leadership journeys.

Alongside colleagues Richard Bourbon, Klara Baka and Robert Mercer, the conference provided a valuable opportunity to strengthen professional connections and build on a shared commitment to serving our school communities.

Opportunities like this are a valuable reminder of the strength of our professional networks and the importance of ongoing learning in leadership.
