Congratulations to Mahdyar Sabzi Vand (Class of 2025), who has been recognised with a 2025 Premier’s VCE Award for his outstanding achievement in English as an Additional Language (EAL).
This is Mahdyar’s second Premier’s VCE Award, having also received the honour in 2024 for Persian, an extraordinary achievement that places him among Victoria’s highest achieving VCE students.
Mahdyar joined Salesian College Chadstone in Year 9 after arriving in Australia from Iran. As he embraced a new country, a new language and a new education system, he approached every challenge with quiet determination and a genuine love of learning. His outstanding ATAR of 99.15 is a testament to the resilience, hard work and persistence he demonstrated throughout his time at the College.
It was wonderful to celebrate the occasion alongside fellow Class of 2025 graduate Thomas Maguie-Nguyen, who was invited to present at the Premier’s VCE Awards ceremony as the 2025 VCE Leader of the Year.
