Spring into Chinese at Monash University

Recently, Salesian College Chadstone students in Years 9 to 11 studying Chinese attended Spring into Chinese at Monash University’s Caulfield campus, joining students from other schools for a day of cultural learning and discovery.

The day began with a seminar introducing students to university life at Monash. Presenters explored opportunities available to prospective students, including university studies, overseas exchange programs and double degrees. The session concluded with a performance showcasing traditional Chinese arts.

Following the seminar, students participated in a range of cultural activities, including Chinese opera, traditional calligraphy, introductory Mandarin conversations, Chinese history and Chinese dance. These experiences provided students with opportunities to engage with Chinese language and culture beyond the classroom.

Reflecting on the event, Albert Phung shared, “It was a fun experience where we were able to meet students from other schools and interact with the language we are learning.”

The experience offered our students an opportunity to deepen their understanding of Chinese culture, strengthen their language skills and explore future study pathways at Monash University.
