Our Year 7 students recently spent three memorable days at Don Bosco Camp, Safety Beach filled with challenges, laughs and moments they will never forget! From kayaking and tree surfing to quieter times with friends, there was something special for everyone. Adventure, friendship and courage, our Year 7s embraced every moment together. 🌟But don’t just take our word for it, hear it straight from the students below:

A moment that made you proud
The moment that made me proud was tree surfing because it helped me conquer my fear of heights. At first, level one was very scary because the second obstacle was very wobbly and it felt very high above the ground. Soon I managed to finish level one, and I wasn’t scared of the zip line because I have been on it multiple times before. That is what I am proud of.

Your favourite camp activity
My favourite activity at camp was definitely kayaking. My friends and I had lots of laughs trying to manoeuvre and steer our boats into some of my other friends’ kayaks. We raced each other to the furthest buoy and even jumped in the water for a swim.
But my favourite moment of kayaking was watching two of my friends flip their kayak while they were trying to get back into it.

A memory with friends
My memory from camp with friends is when I played a few games of chess with my cabin-mates. It was fun and we developed great bonds by spending time together. It was a wonderful experience and I hope everyone felt the same way.
It is uncommon to laugh during a serious game of chess, but we still did. What’s better than exercising our brains at camp? We all know the answer.

Something new you tried
A new experience I tried on Year 7 camp this year was sea kayaking. I had never been kayaking before, but for me it was one of the most enjoyable and exciting activities on camp. Lots of people hadn’t done kayaking before, so there was a lot of excitement building up to it.
I was paired up with one of my friends and, to our surprise, it wasn’t too hard. We paddled quite far out and then back to the shore. By the end, everyone was tired and fell asleep quickly. Throughout the whole experience everyone had a blast and agreed it was one of the best activities we did on camp.

A memory with friends:
A memory I will never forget from camp is when I was kayaking with my friend Sebastian. Every time we tried to move forwards, the kayak would point us in a different direction, and we were constantly working hard to get it back in line with where we were going. The moment we started paddling, we would tilt to the side again – it was really tough.
Eventually, I turned around to see what Sebastian was doing and that’s when I realised he had his eyes closed the whole time!
