As part of the applied learning experience at Salesian College Chadstone, our Year 10 VM Health and Physical Education students recently had the opportunity to take their classroom learning into a real-world setting with an excursion to BFT Oakleigh.
This term, students have been exploring how to analyse and improve an individual athlete’s fitness by applying training methods and principles. Each student has selected an athlete to focus on and will design a personalised, high-quality training program over the coming weeks.
The visit to BFT Oakleigh, hosted by former Salesian student Ash Perera (class of 2018), offered valuable insight into how training principles are applied in a professional gym environment. Students engaged in a full 60-minute workout, deepened their understanding of effective training techniques, and were introduced to a range of modern gym equipment and exercises that they can incorporate into their own programs.
We extend our sincere thanks to BFT Oakleigh and Ash for their support in making this a meaningful and inspiring learning experience, helping students connect theory with practice in a dynamic and engaging way.
