Book Week 2025 – Book an Adventure

In Week 6, we celebrated Book Week, marking its 80th year.

Staff and students were bustling with excitement as we celebrated the Book Week 2025, guided by this year’s theme Book an Adventure. Students and staff explored creativity, literature, and storytelling throughout this week in fun and inspiring ways.

The highlight of the week was the visit from award-winning author Cate Kennedy, who spoke about her experiences as a writer and encouraged students to find their own unique voices. She gave practical advice and shared some important insights on creative writing.

Throughout the week, students engaged in a wide range of activities, such as

Scavenger Hunt, Book Quiz, Book Character Dress Up Day , Black Out Poetry, Creative Writing Competition – Write Your Own Story – showcasing the imagination of our staff and student authors, Design a Cover Competition – beautiful artwork created by our art students, Lego Club & Book Club – exploring the Book Week theme in unique and interactive ways.

The joy of Book Week was captured perfectly by Year 7 student Sahan Diyagama, who shares his reflection –

“I would like to thank you for the great book week we had last week. It was really entertaining to meet Cate Kennedy to speak about writing books and to have the fun book club meeting on Friday, especially the photo with the masks! Being my first book week at Salesian, I look forward to future book weeks in the coming years.”

Thank you to all students and staff who participated with such enthusiasm. Book Week 2025 reminded us of the power of stories to spark imagination, build community, and take us on literary adventures.
