Senior Sport (Yr 11 & Yr 12)
Our Senior teams had their last games of the regular season this week hoping to qualify for finals. The Senior Football side participated in our Reconciliation match against St Bede’s in a great recognition of the culture and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Unfortunately, the Senior Football team were unable to match their opponents, going down 49–122.
In Senior Soccer B, Salesian travelled to Mazenod College and produced a determined performance to earn a valuable 1–1 draw. The team showed great composure and score late in the game, securing an important point away from home. A draw advances the Senior Soccer B team to the Grand final next Wednesday.
Junior Sport (Yr 7 & Yr 8)
Semi Final week for our junior teams produced some high-quality performances and hard-fought contests. The Year 8 Soccer A team continued their impressive season with a convincing 3–0 victory over St Bede’s at Gardiners Reserve. The team controlled the match from the outset and were rewarded with an excellent all-round performance. Our Year 7 Badminton team also enjoyed success, defeating Parade 11–4. Our students displayed strong skill and teamwork across both singles and doubles matches to record a comprehensive win. Both teams will advance to the Grand Finals next Thursday.
The Year 7 Soccer team was involved in one of the matches of the round, narrowly falling to Mazenod in a thrilling contest away from home. Meanwhile, the Year 8 Soccer B team fought hard against Mazenod but were unfortunate to go down 1–0 in another closely contested match. Despite the narrow defeat, the players displayed excellent effort and commitment for the entire match.
