Year 9 Cricket
The Year 9 cricket boys faced St. Bede’s at St. Bede’s (Mentone). They knew it was the last game of the season, and it was heartening to see everyone putting in their best effort. Salesian batted first, scoring 7/86 off 20 overs. St. Bede’s needed to chase down 86 runs in 20 overs and accomplished it in just 12 overs. The final scores were Salesian 7/86 off 20 overs, and St. Bede’s 1/87 off 12 overs. Well done, boys, on a great season, and we hope to see continued enthusiasm for cricket at the College.
Year 10 Cricket
The Year 10 cricket boys took on Whitefriars at Whitefriars cricket oval, knowing that a win was necessary to secure a home final for the following week. Playing Whitefriars at their home ground is always challenging due to the long bus trip, and Whitefriars students’ strong support. The boys performed well in their first innings, with Salesian scoring 6/143 off 20 overs. Whitefriars had to chase 144 runs in 20 overs and was restricted to 6/111 by Salesian’s solid fielding. Congratulations, boys and best of luck for next week.

Year 9A & B Volleyball
The Year 9 volleyball boys faced St. Bernard’s at Ashburton Pool & Recreation Centre. The A team played first and needed a win to secure a home final for the next week. The boys performed well, winning the match with 3 sets and 75 points against 0 sets and 49 points. The B team played next, realizing it was their last volleyball game of the season. They played well, winning with 2 sets and 66 points to 1 set and 61 points. Good luck to those playing in the A team next week!

The Year 9 tennis boys competed against St. Bernard’s at Oakleigh Tennis Club, needing a win to secure a spot in the finals for the next week. The boys performed admirably, winning the match in a must-win situation. The final scores were Salesian 8 sets and 80 games to St. Bernard’s 4 sets and 63 games. Well done, boys, for reaching the finals, and good luck for next week!
