Salesian College Sports Academy Students Success with COHR Basketball Team

On Wednesday 11th October two of our Salesian College Chadstone Sports Academy students (Ben and Oliver) teamed up with the Christ Our Holy Redeemer Primary School basketball team to attend a tournament at Nunawading Basketball Stadium.

Ben and Oliver did a fantastic job coaching the COHR boys, helping them to play highly competitive basketball, scoring 30plus points in each game and just losing a semi final match after playing 3 games straight without a break.  The COHR team lost to the eventual winners of the tournament by just 2 points in the pool games.

Ben and Oliver used what they had learned from their Sports Academy classes on coaching to assist the boys to play well, to play a team band of basketball and to enjoy the experience of a tournament.  After the tournament we went back to COHR and they helped to run a short basketball clinic for the Grade 5 students, who really enjoyed the session.

The Christ Our Holy Redeemer Principal, Mr Welsford, was extremely grateful for the work Ben and Oliver had done throughout the day. They are a credit to Salesian College, and I thank them for volunteering their time to help out students from another Catholic primary school which helps build our community connections in the local area.
