Yesterday’s Professional Learning Day provided staff with the opportunity to learn from Maria Ruberto, founder and director of Salutegenics Psychology.
Maria’s dynamic session explored the science of wellbeing and the practical tools that help people move towards mental fitness, emotional intelligence and resilience. Her work draws on the theory of Salutogenesis which focuses on building wellness and provided valuable insights into how to better regulate emotion, manage stress and support flourishing in ourselves and our students.
Through interactive, research-based strategies, Maria helped staff reframe challenges as opportunities, examined personal bias, and reflect deeply on how language, relationships and mindset shape wellbeing. Her message was clear, the more we build capacity and self-awareness in ourselves, the more we can offer our students.
As Principal Mark Ashmore shared in closing: “When we take time to grow ourselves, we build the capacity to support each other and our students in more meaningful ways. That’s the heart of what we do”.
We thank Maria for her powerful insights, and to all staff for their open and engaged participation.
