Celebrating Being a Finalist

One of Three Finalists for the Child and Youth Empowerment Award

Salesian College Chadstone is proud to be one of three finalists for the Child and Youth Empowerment Award, presented by the Commission for Children and Young People. This recognition celebrates the incredible collaboration between our students and staff to strengthen child safety and ensure that student voice is at the heart of decisions that affect them.

Our students and staff have worked collaboratively to strengthen our child safety awareness and practices across the school community. Key initiatives have included:

  • Building a Child Safety Framework that places student wellbeing and empowerment at its core
  • Developing a student-focused complaints process that is accessible, confidential, and built on student feedback
  • Supporting students to launch the new complaints process to their peers, promoting awareness, trust, and ownership
  • Contributing to Child Safety Week initiatives, with student-led sessions, discussions, and activities that deepened awareness and engagement across the college

These efforts reflect our belief that student voice and agency are essential to building a safe and inclusive school environment.

We congratulate our students and staff on this outstanding achievement and look forward to celebrating at the awards ceremony on 2 September.
