Book Week 2026

Book Week 2026: A Symphony of Stories

Stories came alive at Salesian College during Book Week 2026, with this year’s theme, Symphony of Stories, inspiring a celebration filled with creativity, imagination, laughter and, of course, plenty of books.

A highlight of Book Week was a special visit from acclaimed Australian author Morris Gleitzman, who shared his experiences and insights into the world of writing and storytelling. Students enjoyed hearing from one of Australia’s best known authors and learning more about the ideas and inspiration behind storytelling.

Throughout the celebrations, students had plenty of opportunities to get creative. Blackout Poetry, the Bookmark Designing Competition and Creative Writing Challenge encouraged students to transform words and ideas into poetry, artwork and original stories.

LEGO was also a popular part of Book Week, with students putting their imaginations to work through themed LEGO building activities. The Book Week Quiz tested literary knowledge, while Book Club brought students together to share their love of reading and discover new stories.

The celebrations extended to staff too, with a lunchtime LEGO Botanicals activity providing an opportunity to relax, create and connect. The activity received plenty of positive feedback, with Daisy Tang capturing the experience in a fantastic video.

From authors and readers to writers, artists, builders and quiz champions, our College community played a part in creating its own Symphony of Stories.

Thank you to everyone who participated, supported the activities and helped make Book Week 2026 such a memorable celebration of reading, storytelling and creativity.
