Congratulations to Abel Ebi Joseph!
Abel has been awarded the Robert Menzies 2025 Annual Speech Competition Winner in the Year 11 and 12 category. We are extremely proud that, for the second year in a row, a student from Salesian College Chadstone has received this incredible honor.
Last night, Abel delivered his speech at the 2025 Annual Conference at the University of Melbourne, impressing judges with his thoughtful exploration of Australia’s free speech heritage. Through preparing and presenting his speech, Abel reflected on the experience and the ideas he explored:
“The Robert Menzies speech competition gave me a valuable opportunity to deepen my understanding of Australian history and politics. I found myself immersed within ideas and policies discussed all those decades ago, and understood their prominent effect on Australian society even today.”
We are so incredibly proud of Abel – for his dedication, his curiosity, and the way he has reflected deeply on such important ideas. His achievement is a testament to his hard work, insight, and the thoughtful approach he brings to everything he does. Well done, Abel!
