Rotary Four Way Test Public Speaking Competition

On Monday 16th October, Year 10 Student Thomas Maguire-Nguyen took part in the Rotary Four Way Test Public Speaking Competition along with students from St. Bede’s College, Sion College and Glen Waverley Secondary College. The competition required Thomas to give a four minute speech which satisfied the criteria of the Four Way Test which are:

  1. Is it the truth?
  2. Is it beneficial to all concerned?
  3. Is it fair to all concerned?
  4. Will it build goodwill and better friendships

Thomas spoke about the consequences of mental illness and the impact of people being willing to demonstrate empathy and to listen to each other. His speech was superb and made a strong impression on the audience.

Thomas was voted the best speaker in competition – an excellent effort!
