ACC Sports Report

ACC Hockey
Senior Hockey- The senior hockey boys had the hard task of playing St Bede’s this week. They started well going into half time trailing by one (2-1) but St Bede’s hit away in the second half scoring six more goals (8-1). It was a gallant effort in defeat from our boys who pushed a quality team right until the end. Amongst the best were Diesel Williams, Brodie Vanderhorst and Gus Roach. Well done boys.

Year 10 Hockey- The year 10 hockey side played against Whitefriars at Waverley Hockey Centre. The boys trailed early before turning it around and holding on for 2-1 victory. Amongst the best were Jack Allen, Damon Guerrieri and Jaiden D’Rozario. Well done boys.

Year 9 Hockey- The year 9 hockey team took on Whitefriars at Doncaster Hockey Club. The boys played well setting up a great 3-2 win in what was a very tight contest. Mitch Langworthy, Jared Fernandez and Christian Noga were all major contributors. Well done boys.

Year 8 Hockey- The year 8 hockey team also had the challenge of playing St Bede’s this week. It was a tough game for our boys at Waverley unfortunately going down 6-1. The boys tried their best all day, a few of Salesian’s best were Luke Yankov, Harry Cashman and Noah Montgomery. Good work boys.

 Year 7 Hockey- The year 7 hockey side played away against De La Salle this week. The boys had a really tight tussle with De La Salle, but unfortunately couldn’t get over the line going down by one goal (1-0). Amongst the best were Jesse Downes, Luke Waters & Nicolas Fiorello. Well done boys.

ACC Basketball
Senior A & B Basketball- The senior A & B basketball teams began their season this week playing St Bede’s at Waverley Basketball. Two close games both unfortunately saw Salesian just lose, with the A team’s scoreline reading 43-48 and the B team’s scoreline reading 46-52. Best players for the A side included James McLaughlin, Jack Sclazi and Nic Clifton. Amongst the best for the B side were Calvin Ramachandran, Isaac Deayton and Connor Montgomery. Well done boys.

 Year 10 A & B Basketball- The year 10 A & B basketball teams took on Whitefriars at Whitefriars College. It was a tough contest with the A’s unfortunately just going down 41-46. Best players included Wissam Malaeb, Ollie Mann and Lochlain Keleher. The B’s also tried hard however couldn’t get the win. The final score was 28-50. Amongst the best were Thenuk Devendra, Matt Babbington and Alvin Lee.

Year 9 A & B Basketball- The year 9 A & B basketball teams took on De La Salle at De La Salle College. The A boys gave it their all howver didn’t get the win despite giving a terrific effort with the final scores being 43-55. The B side played next, also trying their best but went down in a close contest, 37-43. Salesian’s best were Jackson Cerovac, Tony Deayton and Jai Van Hoos for the A’s as well as Lucas Tippett, Austin Greenfell and Callam Thieu.

 Year 8 A & B Basketball- The year 8 A & B teams took on St Bede’s at Waverley Basketball Centre. The A and B sides both came up against quality opposition. Both teams kept on pushing until the very end but unfortunately were beaten in both games. The scores were 32-78 in the A game and 21-66 in the B game. Best players included Noah Panjkovic, Luke Trehane and Joseph Pahlijina for the A’s and Bafel Wal, Zach Sahib and Hudson Lee for the B’s. Good work boys.

Year 8 C & D Basketball- The year 8 C & D teams took on Mazenod at Mazenod College. The C team took the court first and played a really strong game winning 45-27 – a fantastic result. The D team played next, the boys fought hard all game but unfortunately didn’t have the same luck, defeated by Mazenod 54-27. Major contributors in the C’s were Brady Shipton, Archie Lafrank and Alexander Diosi as well as Brian Phung and Gadwich Thiep in the D side. Well done boys.

 Year 7 A & B Basketball- The year 7 A & B teams made the trip to Mentone to take on St Bede’s. The A and B sides both came up against quality opposition teams. Both teams tried hard all day but unfortunately were beaten in both games. The scores were 29-71 in the A game and 12-71 in the B game.  Best players for the A’s were Angus Chetwin, Curtis Middleton & Samarth Pedamale and Ben Ellis, Josh Antony & Zachary Kolivas for the B team. Well done to all.

ACC Table Tennis
Senior Table Tennis- The senior table tennis team had the hard task of taking on Mazenod at home this week. The boys knew it would be a challenge but still put forward their best. The final scores were Salesian 3 matches and 21 sets defeated by Mazenod 12 matches and 54 sets. Good effort boys.

Year 10 Table Tennis- The year 10 table tennis team took on St Bernard’s at their Resurrection House Campus. The boys knew it would be a tough match up but still put forward their best. The final scores were Salesian 4 matches and 28 sets defeated by St Bernard’s 11 matches and 47 sets. Kosta Nikolopoulos, Themi Gounaris and Juilian Severino all played very well.

Year 9 Table Tennis- The year 9 table tennis team also took on St Bernard’s but at home. The boys played exceptionally well and defeated St Bernard’s, 9 matches 38 sets to 6 matches 37 sets. A great effort by the team. Amongst the best were Nicholas Dermitzakis, Jayden See and Joel Ajani. Well done boys.

Year 8 Table Tennis- The year 8 table tennis team faced off against St Bede’s at home. The boys played really strong table tennis against quality opposition unfortunately falling just short as they were defeated by St Bede’s 8 matches 42 sets to our 7 matches and 33 sets. Good effort boys.

Year 7 Table Tennis- The year 7 table tennis team took on De La Salle at De La Salle College. The boys played really well and had a commanding win not losing a match! The final scores were Salesian 15 matches and 69 sets to De La Salle with no matches and 6 sets. Great work boys! Amongst the best were Roy Nikolopoulos, William Brooks-Gay and William McKenzie.
