All three teams made finals. Only the A’s team made finals for volleyball. It was good to see that our senior boys could make finals but also very disappointing that the teams couldn’t progress through to the following rounds.

Senior Volleyball- Only the A’s played this week for volleyball as the B’s didn’t make finals. The A’s had Parade College who have been solid all season. Salesian couldn’t get the chocolates on Wednesday afternoon at MSAC. We would like to thank all students and also Chris Ryan who has coached them this year. Another special mention goes to Carl Egan, Carl has been at the college for a very long time and would get the boys to training in the morning at the hall. It was good to see the passion and commitment the students and also our volleyball coaches showed this year. Hopefully the boys can go one further next year.

Senior Tennis- Salesian travelled to St. Bede’s to play off for a spot in the final. Salesian had a solid season but coming to an end with St. Bede’s winning 10 sets to 2. Many thanks to Rob Marley the coach for the effort he put into the team this year. As well as all the students who participated and played well all season. Hopefully the boys can go further next year.

Senior Cricket-  St. Joseph’s FTG travelled out to Salesian College for a spot in the final. St. Joseph’s FTG bowled first and keep Salesian to 10/79 after 18.4 overs. St. Joseph’s FTG chased the total down on the last ball of the day. It was impressive by both teams on the day. A special mention to both Steven Loonstra and the students for a terrific year, especially during the season. Well done boys and hopefully we can make it one further next year.

Swimming Carnival- This year’s house swimming carnival was held at Oakleigh Swimming. It was good to see all staff and students smiling on a nice hot day that would be great to go for a swim. Many records were broken during the day.

The list of boys who broke records:

  • Samuele Pozzoli 30.23 50m Freestyle Year 7 (Coll)
  • Cooper Fry 27.18 50m Freestyle Year 9 (Mor)
  • Patrick Forster 26.50 50m Freestyle Year 11 (Sav)
  • Andrew Tan 29.26 50m Butterfly Year 10 (Sav)
  • Patrick Forster 28.24 50m Butterfly Year 11 (Sav)
  • Trung Le 32.12 50m Breastroke Year 11 (Coll)
  • Patrick Foster 32.04 50m Backstroke Year 11 (Sav)

Good to see everyone participate in many ways. The following scores for each house were: In order-

1st Savio 595

2nd Moroney 594

3rd Annecy 551

4th Collinson 498

It was good to see many staff assiting during the day and making the day fun but also organsied. Well done to Savio! All houses were exceptional on the day.
