Swinburne Italian Poetry Competition

On Wednesday 26 June, 26 students in Years 7 and 8 participated in the Swinburne Italian Poetry Competition. We were first asked to go to the library where the competition would be held in the room at the back. When getting there, we had to wait our turn which was a nerve-wrecking experience. At our turn, we went in and were asked to recite our poem and once finished, we could head back.My favourite part would be at the end when I was done reciting my poem. I felt so relieved and joyous that that was done and over with. I personally believe that it will help me in the future because I had learnt a couple of new words which I otherwise wouldn’t have known if I didn’t participate in the competition. The competition encouraged me to feel comfortable standing up in front of an audience and delivering a speech.
