Michael Logarzo

Michael Logarzo is a distinguished tennis coach and former professional player who has established himself as one of Australia’s leading figures in high performance tennis development. A member of the Class of 1996 at Salesian College Chadstone, Michael’s journey reflects a sustained commitment to excellence, leadership and the development of others within the sport.

During his early years, Michael demonstrated exceptional talent as a junior player, achieving national championship success and earning selection to represent Australia. He progressed to the professional circuit, competing internationally before transitioning into coaching, where he has made his most significant and lasting impact.

Michael’s coaching career has spanned both Australia and the United States. He served as Head Coach of a leading tennis academy in New York, gaining valuable international experience and exposure to elite player development systems. Since returning to Australia in 2009, he has played a central role in developing some of the nation’s most promising young athletes. His coaching portfolio includes Junior National Champions, Australian junior representatives, state team players and athletes within Tennis Australia high performance programs.

At the elite level, Michael has coached on the professional tour and has been involved at all four Grand Slam tournaments. Notably, he guided Zoe Hives from her junior career through to main draw appearances at both the Australian Open and Wimbledon. He has also worked with Daria Saville, a former top 20 player on the WTA Tour, further demonstrating his ability to operate at the highest levels of the sport.

In recognition of his excellence, Michael has received multiple accolades, including Tennis Victoria’s Coaching Excellence Development Coach of the Year in both 2022 and 2025. He was also a finalist in the prestigious Newcombe Awards for Coaching Excellence Development in 2025, as well as the Women’s Tennis Coaching Association Spirit of Tennis Award in 2020.

As the founder and Director of Michael Logarzo Tennis, he has built a nationally recognised junior development program, which has been endorsed as a Tennis Australia National Talent Hub. His academy continues to produce high calibre athletes while fostering a strong culture of discipline, resilience and personal growth.

Michael has recently returned to Salesian College Chadstone, where he now leads the tennis program within the Salesian Sports Academy. His ongoing connection to the College reflects his commitment to giving back to the community that helped shape his journey, inspiring the next generation of students to pursue excellence both on and off the court.

 

Through his achievements in sport, his leadership in coaching and his dedication to developing young people, Michael Logarzo exemplifies the values of integrity, determination and service that underpin the Salesian tradition.
