How did you get into basketball in the first place?
I first got into basketball when I was younger, just playing for fun with friends and family. Over time, I started loving the competitiveness of the sport and wanted to improve more seriously. Since then, basketball has become a huge part of my life.
What is it like playing for Nunawading Spectres?
Playing for the Nunawading Spectres has been a really good experience. The club has a strong basketball culture, and there are a lot of talented players and coaches who push me to improve every day. I have also made a lot of great friendships through the program.
You represented Victoria in Perth. What was that experience like?
Representing Victoria in Perth was an amazing experience. It was really competitive playing against some of the best players from across Australia, but it also helped me grow as a player and build confidence. It was something I was very proud to be part of.
You train a lot. What does a normal week look like for you?
A normal week usually includes Basketball Victoria state team training, strength and conditioning sessions, skill workouts, shooting practice, recovery, and games on Fridays. I try to stay consistent and put in extra work whenever I can, especially with shooting and finishing around the basket.
How do you balance basketball and school?
Balancing basketball and school can definitely be challenging at times, especially with training and games, but I try to stay organised and manage my time well. I make sure I keep on top of my schoolwork while still giving basketball the focus it needs.
What has the Biretta Program been like for you?
The Biretta Program has been really beneficial for me. It has helped me get ahead academically, particularly in English and Mathematics. Learning is easier when you are surrounded by students who are motivated and want to get the best out of themselves.
What are you hoping to achieve with basketball over the next few years?
I am hoping to earn a Division 1 basketball scholarship at a university in the United States and, ultimately, achieve my dream of making it to the NBA.
