ACC Sports Blog – 5/8/22

ACC Hockey

Senior Hockey- The senior hockey boys took on the competitive St. Joseph’s FTG. The boys started the match like a house on fire, it was 7-0 at half time with Salesian going into the second half with huge momentum. Salesian won the match 10-0. Amongst the best players were Gus Roach, Harry D’Rozario and Gabriel Schiavello. Well done boys. Hopefully this momentum can continue into the finals later in the year.

Year 10 Hockey- The year 10 hockey boys played Emmanuel College in a must win match. The boys didn’t disappoint in the first half with leading 5-0 at half time. The boys continued the momentum in the second half scoring another 2 goals to make the match 7-0 with a Salesian College win. Amongst the best were Zac Dunne, Gavin Tone and Oliver De Luca. Well done boys and hopefully this can drive the boys into the back end of the season with momentum with hopefully finals on the way later in the term.

Year 9 Hockey- The year 9 hockey boys had a big trip ahead of them to take on St. Bernard’s College. The boys had a very strong start but both teams weren’t giving an inch. The half time score being 0-0. The boys tried their hearts out but fall short 2-1 against St. Bernard’s. Well done to both teams on a really strong match. Amongst the best were Jaiden D’Rozario, Nick Franklin and Satyam Sharma.

Year 8 Hockey- The year 8 hockey had a bye.

Year 7 Hockey – The year 7 boys travelled to St. Bernard’s College to take on one of the harder schools at ACC hockey. The boys started well but both sides couldn’t get on the score board until the second half. The final scores were 1-0, St. Bernard’s take the victory. Well done boys on a good effort. Amongst the best were Mitch Loeding, Luke Yankov and Harry Cashman.

 

ACC Basketball

Senior A & B Basketball- The senior boys travelled up to St. Bernard’s, huge trip and even bigger game. The boys played extremely well in the A’s and won the match by 2 points in a close one. Amongst the best players Jack Scalzi, James Peluso and Oliver Arnott. Well done boys. The B’s played next with needing a win for the season. The boys didn’t go as expected and unfortunately the boys fall short losing the match 48-38 in yet another tight match. Amongst the best were Jackson Luzares, Louis Nousis and Enrique Soria.

Year 10 A & B Basketball- The year 10 basketball boys played St. Joseph’s FTG at home. The A’s played first with a competitive match on hand the boys did very well to win the match 59-40. Amongst the best were Isaac Deayton, Tom Washington and Calvin Ramachandran. Well done boys. The B’s played next with another tough match against, the boys played extremely well but couldn’t get the win like the A’s. The final score was 33-28. Amongst the best were Adam Kuruvilla, Lachie Namdarian and Derick Maimarosia.

Year 9 A & B Basketball- The year 9 basketball boys played one of the hardest basketball schools in De La Salle College. The A’s played first with really trying their hearts out but De La Salle won the match 66 to 39. Amongst the best were Wissam Malaeb, Connor Keleher and Oliver Mann. The B’s played next and with a few sick there were a few changes that were made. Regardless of the changes the boys did extremely well with only losing by 5 points with the final scores being 34-39. Amongst the best were Snowy Evans, Harrison Window and Thenuk Devendra.

Year 8 A & B Basketball- The year 8 basketball had a bye.

Year 7 A & B Basketball – The year 7 basketball boys took on St. Mary’s College in a must win match for both sides. The boys started well with the A’s winning the first match 45 to 25. Amongst the best were Will Scalzi, Noah Montgomery and Lucas Caia. The B’s played next. The boys started slow but finished better. The final scores were 32 to 9 with a St. Mary’s win. Amongst the best were James Tanner, Luke Trehane and Rennie Edwards.

Year 7 C & D Basketball – The year 7 basketball boys took on St. Bernard’s College at home. The boys had a strong side in today and the C’s played first in a must win match for the side. The boys did well but lost by 4 with the finals scores being 30 to 26. The D’s played next with limited numbers the boys lost the match 21 to 47. The coach had too many played to pick bests from both sides. The performance by all was really impressive and a lot better than previous weeks as well.

 

ACC Table Tennis

Senior Table Tennis- The senior table tennis boys played at home in a must win match. Inclusion of Mr. Nagle making his debut coaching career help assist the boys to win there first match. The boys won the match 11 matches and 49 sets to St. Joseph’s FTG 4 matches 26 sets. Amongst the best were Hugh Ross, Avellino Jones and Marcellino Baselyous.

Year 10 Table Tennis- The year 10 table tennis boys played extremely well yet again with winning the match away against a very strong table tennis school in Emmanuel. The final scores were 10 matches and 46 sets to 5 matches and 29 sets with a Salesian College victory. Amongst the best were Andrew Tan, Fadhal Hussein and Ryan Thomas. Well done boys.

Year 9 Table Tennis- The year 9 table tennis boys played De La Salle College at home. The boys played really well again with ending the match with a 10 matches and 55 set win to De La Salle’s 5 matches and 20 sets. Amongst the best were Matthew Ramman, Julian Severino and Alex Sabljak. Well done boys on yet another good victory and seem to be going very deep into finals in a few weeks.

Year 8 Table Tennis- The year 8 table tennis had a bye.

Year 7 Table Tennis- The year 7 boys travelled to St. Bernard’s College to take on a very strong table tennis school. The boys started well with the singles but were down by 2 matches. The finals scores were 7 matches and 40 sets to St. Bernard’s 8 matches and 35 sets. Well done on a good effort boys. Amongst the best were Navik Rathnasinghe, Niko Soultanidis and Corban Matusewicz.
