Lent and Project Compassion

This Lent we were guided to consider a recontextualised concept of fasting, inspired by the words of Pope Francis. We are called during Lent to discern, as Jesus did, our mission in life and bring into perspective, as well as balance, the things that pull our attention away from our spiritual lives and our role in building God’s Kingdom on Earth.

Some questions that we could consider:

What temptations may be getting in the way of me being a positive person or contributor in our community?

What can I do to bring the Good News to those around me through my words, thoughts and actions?

The 2021 Projection Compassion theme also encourages us to think about the way we can use our gifts, talents and position to “Aspire not to have more, but to Be More” (St Oscar Romero). Over the remainder of the term, our Oratory classes will select three inspiring stories of hope, overcoming adversity and learn of the positive impact that Caritas Australia is having in some of the most vulnerable parts of the world.
