The Church’s Holy Week is upon us – the time during Lent when we walk symbolically with Jesus through his final days in Jerusalem on the way to his Passion, death, and resurrection. To keep this in our thoughts and prayers this week, our Year 12 classes will be walking with the cross in a solemn procession around the campus each day in Oratory period. This morning, the students of 12C were the first class to perform this ritual, carrying the cross with respect and offering up their prayers that we might all find deeper meaning this year in the Easter mysteries. They were wearing casual clothes as a fundraiser for Caritas Australia’s annual Project Compassion. This is always a great way of involving themselves in the season of Lent, by taking on good works for the benefit of others who have particularly heavy crosses to bear.
