In Unit 1 Biology, students are currently studying various systems within plants and animals. They have investigated how celery and carrot plants absorb water in their roots through the xylem, and how the products of photosynthesis move through the phloem. Recently, the focus has been on the heart, examining its key components such as the atria and ventricles, and comparing the blood vessels including the vena cava, pulmonary artery and vein, and the aorta. Through dissection, students gained a deeper understanding of the heart’s function.
