The Curriculum at Salesian College has been designed to provide a sound foundation at junior levels on which to build greater choice and individualisation as the student matures towards the senior levels. It culminates in a wide range of courses of study at VCE level. Religious Education is the cornerstone of the College Curriculum and, as such, it is a core subject from Years 7 to 12.

Year 7 & 8
In Years 7 and 8, the Curriculum provides common studies for all students in the following Key Learning Areas:
- Religious Education
- The Arts
- Health and Physical Education
- Languages Other Than English (LOTE)
All students undertake the same course of study in Year 7. In Year 8, students choose some elective subjects they wish to study.
In Year 9, the College delivers an exciting program, which is located on our Mannix Campus. The campus creates an environment in which students are encouraged to develop their individual skills and talents. The program academically challenges students, fosters leadership skills and raises awareness of community responsibilities. Tthe key feature of the program is the Bosco Units. One day per week, students engage in learning experiences which extend beyond the classroom walls. They have opportunities to pursue initiatives that help them to understand their world and explore “real life” issues.
The Year 10 program consists of an exciting mixture of core studies as well as a broader range of elective studies, including VCE subjects. It is designed to meet the academic and personal needs of adolescents at this stage of their education, create greater opportunities for a smoother transition into VCE and enhance a desire to strive for excellence by providing more ownership of learning.
Year 11 & 12
Years 11 and 12 students have the choice of over 30 subjects, representing more than 120 units across the eight Key Learning Areas providing for a broad range of students’ interests, talents and requirements for tertiary study or work. For students wishing to pursue an alternative pathway, the College offers the Victorian certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) in Year 11 and in Year 12 from 2014.
