At Salesian College, our staff and volunteers are suitable and supported to reflect child safety and wellbeing values in practice.

TO MEET THIS STANDARD THE COLLEGE MUST ENSURE

  • Recruitment, including advertising, referee checks and staff and volunteer pre-employment screening, emphasise child safety and wellbeing.
  • Relevant staff and volunteers have current working with children checks or equivalent background checks.
  • All staff and volunteers receive an appropriate induction and are aware of their responsibilities to students, including record keeping, information sharing and reporting obligations.
  • Ongoing supervision and people management is focused on child safety and wellbeing.

HOW IS THE COLLEGE IMPLEMENTING THIS STANDARD

  • Recruitment and induction processes that have a strong focus on child safety.
  • Continued child safety checks for staff and volunteers.
  • Staff Professional growth and coaching program with a dedicated focus area of child safe practice.
  • Yearly Staff Professional Learning Program including child safe information and training.
  • Annual staff child safe compliance training.
