At Salesian College, our staff and volunteers are suitable and supported to reflect child safety and wellbeing values in practice.
TO MEET THIS STANDARD THE COLLEGE MUST ENSURE
- Recruitment, including advertising, referee checks and staff and volunteer pre-employment screening, emphasise child safety and wellbeing.
- Relevant staff and volunteers have current working with children checks or equivalent background checks.
- All staff and volunteers receive an appropriate induction and are aware of their responsibilities to students, including record keeping, information sharing and reporting obligations.
- Ongoing supervision and people management is focused on child safety and wellbeing.
HOW IS THE COLLEGE IMPLEMENTING THIS STANDARD

- Continued child safety checks for staff and volunteers.
- Staff Professional growth and coaching program with a dedicated focus area of child safe practice.
- Yearly Staff Professional Learning Program including child safe information and training.
- Annual staff child safe compliance training.
