At Salesian College, equity is upheld and diverse needs respected in policy and practice.
TO MEET THIS STANDARD THE COLLEGE MUST ENSURE
- The college, including staff and volunteers, understands students’ diverse circumstances, and provides support and responds to those who are vulnerable.
- Our students have access to information, support and complaints processes in ways that are culturally safe, accessible and easy to understand.
- The college pays particular attention to the needs of students with disability, students from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, those who are unable to live at home, and lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex students.
- The college pays particular attention to the needs of Aboriginal children and young people and provides/promotes a culturally safe environment for them.
HOW IS THE COLLEGE IMPLEMENTING THIS STANDARD
- The college has a Learning Diversity Team that supports required adjustments to meet the diverse needs of our students
- The college delivers events that acknowledge and celebrate diversity
- The college delivers a parent engagement workshop program
- Parent Association is consulted on Child Safety strategies, improvements and initiatives
- Our website is accessible to the Salesian community, with child safety information readily available
