Exciting Opportunity: Expression of Interest & Request for Tender

Salesian College Chadstone began its journey to find a construction partner, to bring the Year 7 & 8 Precinct to life, in June 2024 with a targeted approach to identifying a builder suitable for the building project. After extensive consultation with the College’s Consultant Team and feedback from other Schools around there experiences with particular builders, an expression of interest (EOI) was launched to identify an experienced builder to deliver the building project on behalf of the College. From an initial list of eleven (11), identified builders the Project Steering Group (PSG), along with Consultant Team narrowed the field of eleven (11) to nine (9) builders to participate in the EOI process. All nine (9) builders were presented with a package of preliminary architectural drawings, indicative timelines for EOI and Request For Tender (RFT), the type of contract to be used for the project along with some preliminary information around how the project is expected to be delivered. The Project Steering Group (PSG), along with Consultant Team narrowed the field of nine (9) builders to five (5) after the EOI responses. Working in a live environment (co located / build around) that allows the Campus to operate autonomously to the building works taking place and the delivery of previous building projects to a similar level proposed where key construction elements identified through the EOI process.

In September 2024, the Request For Tender (RFT) commenced with the five (5) chosen builders to Tender for the Year 7 & 8 Precinct works. An extensive architectural Tender package was issued to the five (5) builders along with a number of evaluation criteria for the respective builders to provide responses addressing the criteria including the all-important price. The tender period will be four (4) weeks with an scheduled Tender close mid October 2024. It is expected that the Salesian College Chadstone Board will ratify the selection of the preferred building contractor in late October 2024. It is anticipated that chosen builder will arrive to site in November 2024. Further information around timelines for commencement of works and alterations to accessing the Mannix Campus will be circulated to the College community once further communication with the chosen builder around the construction program is realised.

Carefully managing both the EOI and Tender processes, the Project Steering Group (PSG) will have chosen a suitability qualified and experienced builder to deliver construction services ensuring the Year 7 & 8 Precinct is built to high standards, reflects the innovative design vision, and meets the needs of its future users. This structured approach helps in selecting the right building partners for the project, thereby contributing to its overall success.
