ACC Hockey
Senior Hockey- The senior hockey team travelled to Altona Hockey Club to play Emmanuel this week. The boys had a big 10-2 win over Emmanuel, booking their spot in a semi final on Wednesday against St Bede’s at Mentone Grammar’s Playing Fields. Salesian’s best included Gus Roach, Daniel Biviano and Brodie Vanderhorst. Well done fellas.
Year 10 Hockey- The year 10 hockey side also took on Emmanuel this week. It was a close contest for the duration of the match at Waverley, in the end nothing separating the two teams who had a 3-3 tie. This result meant the boys finished in fourth position and will play against St Bernard’s at St Bernard’s in a semi final on Tuesday. Best players this week were Jaiden D’Rozario, Damon Guerrieri and Jack Allan. Good work and good luck.
Year 9 Hockey- The year 9 hockey team played against St Joseph’s Ferntree Gully away on Tuesday. The boys had another very strong win, 4-1, over St Joseph’s and claimed the top spot on the ladder – great work! The boys host their semi final against St Bernard’s at Waverley, 12:00pm on Tuesday. Major contributors to their win on Tuesday were Zac Raffa, James Rashio and Aadam Khan. Well done and good luck!
Year 8 Hockey- The year 8 hockey side tackled De La Salle at St Kevin’s College Sporting Complex this week. The boys continued their good form with yet another impressive performance defeating De La 3-0. Salesian’s best in this match were Noah Montgomery, Luke Yankov and Will Newman. Great work gents.
Year 7 Hockey- The year 7 hockey side were at home this week against Mazenod. The boys worked hard all day but unfortunately their winning streak was snapped, falling short of a quality opposition team 0-6. Hopefully the boys can bounce back next week! Salesian’s best were Jesse Downs, Kosta Asvestas and Orin Coyles. Good work boys.
ACC Basketball
Senior A & B Basketball- The senior A & B basketball teams took on Mazenod, away at Mazenod. The A team took the court first and set the tone early having a great win over Mazenod (71-59). Major contributors to this win were Jun Lee, Nic Clifton and Oliver Arnott. Great result boys. Despite their efforts the B team unfortunately weren’t as lucky, falling short by just 3 points (45-48). Salesian’s best in this game were Benji Mathieson, Spencer Mathieson and Connor Montgomery. While the A side’s season has now finished, the B team have qualified for a semi final against Parade next week. They will be playing on Wednesday at 2:30pm at MSAC. Best of luck boys and well done on a good season all round.
Year 10 A & B Basketball- The Year 10 A & B teams took on De La Salle at Oakleigh Recreation Centre this week. The A and B sides both played against quality opposition teams. Our boys continued to push themselves until the very end but were unfortunately defeated in both matches. The final scores were 56-68 in the A game, and 25-41 in the B game. Amongst the best were Spencer O’Shea, Ollie Mann and Wissam Malaeb for the A’s and Thenuk Devendra, Tom Cohen-Budge and Alvin Lee for the B’s. That brings the Year 10 basketball season to an end, well done throughout the term boys.
Year 9 A & B Basketball- The Year 9 A & B basketball teams had the hard task of playing St Bernard’s for the final game of their respective seasons. The boys worked hard and gave it their all throughout their matches however unfortunately fell just short of some quality opposition in both games. The A team’s scoreline read 45-56 and the B team’s, 54-70. Good effort and good season boys.
Year 8 A & B Basketball- The Year 8 A & B teams had the challenge of playing De La Salle at De La Salle for their round 6 fixture. The boys’ endeavor was second to none, they tried their best all day but were unfortunately defeated by two strong De La teams. The final scores reading 45-88 in the A game, and 26-44 in the B game. Best players were Lucas Caia, Oskar McCulloch and Luka Treharne in the A team and Bafel Wal, Hudson Lee and Rennie Edwards in the B team. Good effort boys.
Year 8 C & D Basketball- The Year 8 C & D basketball teams hosted Parade at Waverley Basketball Centre on Thursday. It is never easy taking on Parade and this was no exception yet the boys’ effort couldn’t be faulted, working hard all day right until the end. Unfortunately our boys couldn’t get over the line on this occasion with the C and D teams both defeated by Parade, 21-42 and 19-45 respectively. Best players included Calvin Ramachandran, Brady Shipton and Jack Sharp in the C team plus Brian Phung, Emilio Bellistri and Matthew Rowley in the D team. Great effort lads.
Year 7 A & B Basketball- The Year 7 A & B basketball teams took on Whitefriars at Waverley Basketball Centre this week. The A and B boys left all they had on the court however they couldn’t quite get over the line, defeated by Whitefriars in both matches. Despite their great efforts, the final scores for the A and B games were 26-41 and 29-63 respectively. Salesian’s best were Angus Chetwin, Caleb Miszalski and Joshua Antony for the A team as well as Khush Patel, Zachary Kolivas and Max Jones for the B team. Well done boys.
ACC Table Tennis
Senior Table Tennis- The senior table tennis team hosted Parade for their final round of the season. Despite the trademark effort and intensity they’ve brought week in and week out, the boys ultimately went down in a very close contest. The final scores were Salesian 7 matches 39 sets defeated by Parade 8 matches 36 sets. Unfortunately that brings the senior table tennis season to a close – well done to all involved. Salesian’s best were Zidane Heldt, Tom Gardner and Will Thurston. Well done on a good season boys.
Year 10 Table Tennis- The Year 10 table tennis team travelled down the road to Mazenod this week. In their last game of the season, the boys pulled off an amazing win, defeating Mazenod 9 matches 41 sets to 6 matches 34 sets. Amongst the best were Kosta Nikolopoulos, Sachin James and Julian Severino. Great way to finish the season boys!
Year 9 Table Tennis- The Year 9 table tennis team hosted Mazenod on Tuesday. Unfortunately it wasn’t to be as our boys were defeated by Mazenod 12 matches 48 sets to 3 matches 27 sets. Nonetheless, the boys will still face off against St Bernard’s in their semi final at MSAC on Tuesday. Best players for Salesian were Nicholas Dermitzakis, Joel Ajani and Lucas Smith. Good luck next week!
Year 8 Table Tennis- The Year 8 table tennis side headed over to De La Salle for their round 6 fixture. The boys have had a good couple of weeks and this was no exception with a commanding win over De La, 14 matches 65 sets to 1 match 10 sets. Salesian’s best on the day were Navik Rathnasinghe, James Moutafis and Andrew D’Souza. Good work boys.
Year 7 Table Tennis- The Year 7 table tennis team also had the challenge of playing Mazenod this week. The boys gave all they had but unfortunately fell short on this occasion, defeated by Mazenod 10 matches 49 sets to 5 matches 26 sets. Hopefully the boys can bounce back next week! Amongst the best were William Brooks-Gay, Ryan Pandey and Vaibhav Conjivaram. Good work boys.
