Year 7 Literacy and Life

We started a unit studying Aboriginal culture and people. We studied the Dreaming to begin the unit and learned a lot about how the world came to be in the eyes of the First Nations people. The stories of the dreaming cover almost everything that has happened in the past and how everything was created. There are many stories, but one of the most known is the story of Bundjil the Eagle, which was a popular story in a project we did in around week 2-3. Once we moved on from learning about the Dreaming, we started to study famous Aboriginal sites and structures. Some of these include the Brewarrina fish traps and Lake Condah. Covering Aboriginal culture is very important to our education as The First Nations people are a massive part of Australia, if not the most. The Aboriginal unit can also help with our English skills, as a lot of vocab can be added to our toolkit.
