“In Weeks 7 and 8, the Year 8s went on retreat to the Edmund Rice Centre, Amberley to reflect on our school journey so far. With the help of our teachers and Fr Brian, we learnt about Don Bosco, his values, and his upbringing, which ultimately inspired our school’s beginnings. We discussed the importance of life-long learning and recognised that Salesian is a home to many. We were able to open up about more personal topics like what makes a best friend and our ambitions and fears. We also had some time to just connect with friends and experience the beautiful calming scenery. The new friendships, experiences, and memories made it a memorable day enjoyed across the oratories.
Oratory teachers lead their classes through the four Salesian experiences; a home that welcomes, a parish that evangelises, a school that prepares for life and a playground to enjoy themselves. Special guests from the Salesian Youth Ministry, Father Brian Ahern and Teaghan Dolan joined us to showcase the importance of this model throughout the Salesian community and how the boys can embrace this in their own lives.”
