During Headstart we had five officers from Victoria Police who visited. The session was about possible Police Force career pathways that can be pursued. This gave students the opportunity to ask as many questions as we wanted.
Students were given the opportunity to put on a police vest and feel the weight of what they wear day to day on the job.
During this experience the police officers spoke to us about some of their past experiences from over the years as well as what the frontline has looked like these past years since COVID.
They shared the requirements needed to become an officer, hours of work, an idea of what your shifts can include and how much you get paid in the starting ranks.
The officers explained how there are over 200 pathways you can take including, detective, highway patrol, prosecutor, K-9 unit, and others.
