Appointment of Acting Principal

Appointment of Acting Principal

Below, Salesian Provincial Fr William Matthews sdb provides a Letter of Announcement regarding the appointment of an Acting Principal at Salesian College Chadstone for Terms 1 and 2 in 2021.

29 October 2020

Dear Members of the Salesian College Chadstone Community,

In addition to the letter that you received from Fr Greg Chambers, I also wish to congratulate Mr Robert Brennan on his appointment as the Principal of Caroline Chisholm Catholic College in Braybrook from the beginning of 2021 and thank him for his leadership of Salesian College Chadstone for the past nine years.

As it is already very late in the year, the decision has been made to appoint an Acting Principal for Terms 1 and 2, 2021 to allow for a thorough process to be put in place for consultation, advertising and selection of a new Principal.

Therefore, it is with great pleasure that I announce that Mr Neil Carter has accepted the position of Acting Principal of Salesian College Chadstone for Terms 1 and 2, 2021.

Neil is a familiar face to you all as he has been on staff at the College for over twenty years. He joined the College Leadership Team in 1997 as Curriculum Coordinator and then served as Deputy Principal from 2000 to 2019.

He has been the key driver of College Curriculum development following the ACER 2017 school review and has been instrumental in developing the College’s new pedagogy, bringing it to life as the Salesian College Learning Matrix. This includes significant innovation in the areas of Project Based Learning and Problem Based Learning with the blending of subject areas.

I thank Neil for his willingness to accept this position and for his ongoing commitment to the students, families, staff and broader Salesian College community. He is an exemplary leader and educator who is very mindful of the responsibilities that will be entrusted to him as he leads the College in the first half of 2021.

Neil is well known to you and I know he will enjoy your support and confidence as he assumes this role at an important time in the history of the College.

Yours in St John Bosco,

Fr William Matthews SDB
