2021 HALL OF FAME INDUCTEES

We’re proud to announce our 2021 Hall of Fame and Young Achiever Inductees. Achieving significant success in their chosen fields of service, these past pupils will be recognised on Friday 19 March 2021 as positive role models for our current and future students.

Chris Becker (Class of 1988)
With over 20 years’ experience at the Reserve Bank, Chris provides policy advice on the management of the RBA’s $150 billion balance. On a day-to-day basis, Chris helps the RBA implement domestic policy operations and conducts research and analysis on financial markets. Chris consults to the International Monetary Fund in his areas of expertise relating to financial markets. He has completed field work for the Pacific Islands in collaboration with the World Bank, Pacific Financial Technical Assistance Centre and a number of regional aid agencies. Chris volunteers his time at Salesian, having met with our Year 12 Economics students this year to discuss RBA monetary policy, reinforcing their classroom learning.

Terry (Terrence) Charles Lucas (Class of 1984)
As Director and Co-Founder of Elite Sporting Tours, Terry specialises in tours of the US Masters and Augusta National Golf Club for golf enthusiasts. In his career, Terry established a business that ran fifteen nursing homes and various other projects, and has been Director of companies including HeatWood timber flooring and the Elite US Property Fund.
During his time at Salesian, Terry thrived and excelled in his results, and was proactive in many College clubs. After graduating, Terry completed a double degree in Accounting and Economics at Monash University, and went on to become a partner at Price Waterhouse Coopers as a chartered accountant. Terry also volunteers as a football coach, and is President of the Beaumaris Football Club.

Fr John Petrulis (Class of 1975)
As Priest of Sacred Heart Parish in St Kilda since 2007, Fr John Petrulis is an active member of the local community, volunteering his time to charitable work. Recognised as someone with a strong sense of social justice, Fr John Petrulis has been a priest of the Archdiocese of Melbourne for the past 31 years. In this time, he has ministered in a variety of parishes including Sunbury, Ferntree Gully, Heidelberg, East Bentleigh and Boronia. A member of the Sacred Heart Mission Board, Fr John and volunteer parishioners dedicate their time to serving meals to the homeless. Fr John says it is this connection between parish and mission that is essential and “a major focus of parish life.”

2021 YOUNG ACHIEVER 

Sasha Lawrence (Class 2007)
As Acting Chief Executive Officer at the Reach Foundation, Sasha is instrumental in facilitating self-development workshops that focus on empowering young people with the tools and skills they need to understand themselves and others. Sasha is also a manager at PWC, delivering quality in assurance, tax and advisory services. After graduating from Salesian, Sasha travelled to Mali in West Africa with ‘the Mali Initiative’, an organisation established to empower the people of Mali. Since travelling to Mali as a 17 year old, Sasha is now Director of the initiative, supporting the local community through education, entrepreneurship and other projects.
