Legacy Public Speaking Competition

Every year Salesian College selects three of its finest Year 7 and 8 speakers to participate in the Legacy Public Speaking Competition. Participants are required to present a five minute speech about a current social issue that encompasses Legacy’s values of caring, mateship, remembrance and/or voluntary service. Secondly, they must present a two minute impromptu speech. They are assigned a topic (this year it was ‘winter’), and are given FIVE minutes to prepare before they must present!

Our three participants all spoke extremely well and put much consideration into their planned speeches. Our participants were Will Thurston (who spoke about Domestic Violence), Marcellino Baselyous 8B (Euthanasia) and David James 8B (Immigrant Wages). David won the heat and will be representing the region at the State Finals in September. Congratulations to all these boys – your new Legacy badges are very well earned!
