Salesian College, Chadstone is calling for nominations for parent representatives on the College Advisory Council.
Due to the recent retirements of College Council members, we are seeking expressions of interest from people who can contribute to the guidance of the educational programme and the management and the development of the College.
While it is the wisdom of experience that is most valuable, some expertise in the legal, business, financial or higher educational sectors will add to the balance of our Council Membership.
Because of impending changes in the governance structures of Salesian Schools, these positions are likely to be for an initial term of eighteen months. This is due to the fact that Salesian College, Chadstone is likely to become an incorporated entity from the commencement of the 2021 school year. At that time the College Council will move from being an Advisory Council to a full board of management. This transition will mean roles on the board will change significantly and all positions will have to be vacated with the establishment of a new board under the new guidelines.
Currently, the Handbook for Members of the Salesian College Advisory Council states:
Membership of the Advisory Council
The Salesian College Advisory Board shall be composed of:
- The Salesian Provincial or his Nominee
- The Chairperson (appointed by the Salesian Provincial)
- The College Rector
- The Principal
- The Deputy Principal
- The Business Manager
- Seven community representatives, of whom at least three should be parents of current students at the College.
All members are appointed by the Salesian Provincial.
Terms of Office:
a) – Ex-officio members remain on the College Council for the term of their appointment to their Leadership position in the College.
b) – Appointed Community representatives usually serve for two (2) consecutive terms – each term being of three years. Further terms of office are determined by the Principal in consultation with the Chairperson.
