Congratulations, Ethan Fernando

Congratulations to Ethan Fernando in Year 11 who has been accepted into Canon mentoring program, ‘The Red Straps’! The ‘Red Straps’ program is a four month youth mentoring initiative that helps young hobbyist photographers and filmmakers realize their future careers, and take the first steps along their own creative journeys.

Ethan was one of thousands of students who applied and was successfully accepted as one of 12 in the program. The duration of the program is four months, and Ethan will be mentored through monthly creative briefs to develop a body of work and experience one-on-one workshops with professional Canon photographers.  Ethan will be supplied equipment for the duration of the program, and will be invited to an end-of-program event, courtesy of Canon.

“We want to help enable those most passionate to make imaging their career, and connect them with young professionals making national and international impact with their content. We are about supporting the future of the industry, and helping to build a community of creators made stronger by connection.”

When asked about how he felt about the competition, Ethan said he is keen to start on the first brief. While quite humble, Ethan was visibly excited about his acceptance into the program. “I am really looking forward to tackling the creative briefs set out by Canon and learning new things from the mentors”, said Ethan.
