On Friday 14 September we had our very first Youth Mass. The focus of this mass was on the Year of Youth, a way of recognising that in October this year, Pope Francis will call a ‘Synod of Bishops’ in Rome to discuss the topic of Young People, Faith and Vocational Discernment. Our Youth Mass was a way that we could represent Salesian College in connecting with the Pope, Bishops and the young people who will gather in Rome. Our Mass was proposed, planned, organised and run by students, for students, and so was a great testament to the faith of the young people in our community. During the Mass, we were invited to pray for the young people of Australia and reminded that together we are challenged to create a better world, where the spirit of Christ, and a sense of love, peace, justice, faith, service and care, will guide us in making decisions for a life of commitment as disciples of Jesus. After Mass we shared a pizza dinner. It was a great afternoon and we look forward to planning a Youth Mass again for 2019!
A big thank you to Josh Meedin, Pravinda Gunasekara and Ethan Van Landenberg for planning and organising our very first Youth Mass.
Thanks to Mrs Malwina Dwyer for taking photos at our Youth Mass.
