During Term Three, our staff and students learnt more about homelessness, the causes of homelessness and the impact that it has on individuals, families and the community. Fulfilling our mission to bring about the Kingdom of God to all people, we set out to collect backpacks, items of warm clothing, new underwear, socks, male toiletry items and non-perishable snack items. These were collected and packed at the Sleep Out last week, creating 40 complete blessing backpacks!
Last week, two Year 7 students who shone brightly at the Sleep Out, Christopher Tsakoumakis and Finn Van Der Zweep presented the back packs to Ozanam House, an organisation within the St Vincent De Paul family.

“The purpose of these backpacks was to help the homeless by giving things to them that they are grateful for and need. This experience showed me how the homeless live without those items that many of us take for granted. It showed me how much the homeless really need.”
