The Catholic Church teaches that the Virgin Mary “having completed the course of her earthly life, was assumed body and soul into heavenly glory.”
The Feast of the Assumption of Mary is a Holy Day of obligation. We celebrated this Holy Day with a whole school Mass. We were honoured to have five celebrants at this Mass, the main celebrant being the newly appointed Salesian Provincial Father William Matthews.
In the Homily, Father Matthews enlightened the College on the role of Mary and her ‘yes’ to God, demonstrating her strong faith and belief that with God all things are possible.
Father Matthews spoke to us about his role and thanked the College for our generous donations to Fiji. He has recently returned from Fiji and assures us that building the new multi-purpose hall is underway. He wishes we continue to support the children through our prayers and donations.
Our students participated with reverence, as usual, and they were rewarded with a treat at the end of the Mass, a chocolate Freddo frog. There was a buzz about the school and many remarked that they enjoyed the Mass.
Thank you to Father Frank, Father Oreste, Father John and Father Sepo, and a special thank you to Father William.
