Project Compassion

Caritas Australia is the international aid and development organisation of the Catholic Church in Australia. They are a member of the Fundraising Institute of Australia and the Australian Council for International Development (ACFID).

Caritas Australia’s annual Lenten fundraising and awareness raising appeal is traditionally referred to as Project Compassion. It brings thousands of Australians together in solidarity with the world’s poor to help end poverty, promote justice and uphold dignity. It is our awareness and fundraising focus for Term One each and every year, usually raising approximately $5000.

The theme for Project Compassion 2018 is For a Just Future with the focus in 2018 being to empower young people to lead their communities to a better, just future. We aim to stand in solidary with young people living in poverty, by giving alms to create real change.

Your support of Project Compassion this term can deliver emergency and humanitarian aid to people living in poverty around the world.

Show your faith, love and generosity this Lent and donate.

This year, the Social Justice Group have been working diligently to raise awareness and donations. So far, they have organised canteens at sporting carnivals and a Shrove Tuesday Pancake Competition. In addition to these events, they are currently working on a Fair Trade Easter Raffle and a Casual Clothes day closer to the end of the term.

The Shrove Tuesday House Competition results were:

Annecy                             $146.70

Moroney                         $212.20

Collinson                        $220.35

Savio                                 $317.45

We are very pleased to report that the College has already been able to raise a total of $3935.22 for Project Compassion. Thank you to everyone involved for making this project a success.
