Walk for Nasinu

Being part of the Salesian Family means that we support our brothers and sisters wherever they are, and with whatever their need is. A way that we, at Chadstone, do this is by providing a focus in our Term Two program, in particular, during Don Bosco’s Oratory Week, an important celebration taking place in Term Two (18 to 22 June).

The aims of this special week are to celebrate:

  • Being part of the Salesian Family,
  • being a faith filled community, who we are as a multi-cultural and diverse community,
  • the social justice work we dedicate ourselves to, and
  • the connection we have to the local community.

This year we have been given the opportunity to raise awareness and money for the Salesians in Fiji who are currently working on building a Youth and Educational Centre to provide much-needed recreational and educational programs to the youth of Nasinu. Nasinu is a fast-growing area on the outskirts of Suva, which currently has very few facilities for young people to use. We hope that the centre will provide a safe and welcoming space for young people to socialise and learn.

The Parish Centre will be used to hold Mass before a Parish Church is constructed, with the site of a secondary school being built in the next phase.

In 2018, all money raised by our annual Don Bosco’s Oratory Week Walkathon will be donated directly to this valuable project to support the youth of Nasinu.

This year, Salesian College Chadstone is introducing an exciting new competition to our 2018 Don Bosco’s Oratory Week celebrations.

#walkfornasinu

The Parish Centre will be used to hold Mass before a Parish Church is constructed, with the site of a secondary school being built in the next phase.

In 2018, all money raised by our annual Don Bosco’s Oratory Week Walkathon will be donated directly to this valuable project to support the youth of Nasinu.
